    Description

Presented is a charming silver covered dish or sugar bowl, with a cobalt glass liner. This piece dates to around 1750 and is likely of English or continental European make. The dish itself is beautifully chased with flowers and leaves and fruit, along with birds and scrollwork-enclosed cartouches. There are three cartouches, none of which have ever been monogrammed. The lid of the dish has a finial in the form of a bird, in keeping with the decoration of the rest of the piece.
This piece is in good overall condition. There are some old solder repairs to the rim, where splits occurred in the indentations. The lid also has some old solder repairs, though these are only noticeable from the underside of the lid, please let the photos of the top side and underside that we have included guide your judgment. The glass is in great shape, with no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. The silver has no dents, no monograms, and no monogram removals.
This piece has no hallmarks that we can find. The silver is guaranteed at least 800 purity, but is likely 900-925 purity.
The dish measures 5 1/2 inches in diameter and is 4 3/4 inches tall.
The total weight is 575 grams, including the glass liner. The weight of just the silver portion is 348 grams or 12.3 regular ounces.
