Oscar Mack worked for Otis Redding as an opening act on his early 1960s tours, and was also Otis Redding's valet and chauffer. That connection is how Mack was able to record at Stax Records and release "Don't Be Afraid Of Love"; Otis Redding even later sang the second vocal on Oscar Mack's "Dream Girl" single.
The bond between the two talents was so strong that before Mack's initial offering was released, Redding officially became Oscar's manager.
This lot includes the original notarized contract that both men signed on May 7, 1963 in ballpoint pen, along with Otis' close friend and manager, Phil Walden.
You'll also receive a multipage management contract that Oscar Mack signed just three weeks after Otis Redding's tragic death; it outlines terms, royalty rate, etc. and is signed by Phil Walden as well. This absolutely unique, vintage lot has some remarkable  musical history, and locating authentic Otis Redding signatures is incredibly tough! The lot comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from REAL: Roger Epperson Authentication, Limited, authenticating the signatures.
Both documents are in excellent condition,
especially for their age. Uncovering vintage, original items like this can take years; these are excellent investment pieces. This AMAZING, unique lot will be a terrific addition to your collection!
