Vintage 1968 Fender Showman Reverb TFL 5000D Silver Face Drip Edge Amp Head w Footswitch & Cover
Here’s another vintage, powerhouse Fender amp head for your perusal:  a Vintage 1968 Fender Silver Face Showman Reverb Model TFL 5000D Amplifier Head in excellent condition overall, both cosmetically & sonically. This can be used with many different types of speaker cabinet configurations, depending on your needs, provided that the speaker cab can handle its 100 watts of power output. This model has the Aluminum Drip Edge design around the blue sparkle grill cloth and the drip edge was only available in 1968-1969.
This sale includes an aftermarket Fender style vibrato/reverb foot switch in its original box and also includes a non-original vinyl cover which is branded “EPIPHONE”.  This entire unit is

SPECIFICATIONS:

11 black skirted knobs with chrome centers, numbered 1 thru 10
S.N. stamped on rear of chassis: A13809
AB763 circuit (on tube chart)
Power section includes: 4 Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC power tubes
Pre amp section includes: 3 x 7025, 2 x 12AT7, 12AX7
Solid state rectifier, fixed bias, onboard effects are reverb & tremolo
Front control layout:
Normal channel: Input, input, bright switch, volume, treble, middle, bass
Vibrato channel: Input, input, bright switch, volume, treble, middle, bass, speed, intensity, reverb & pilot lamp.
Rear control layout:
AC outlet, ground switch, fuse(2 1/2 amp), Power switch, Standby switch, speaker jack, extension speaker jack, vibrato jack, reverb jack, reverb out, reverb in.
CONDITION, SERVICING & OUR OBVERSATIONS:
Head was fully tested & the following items were taken care of by our audio technician;
1. All of the electrolytic capacitors were replaced
2. All pots & switches were cleaned and lubricated
3. The bias was checked out
4. Replaced existing old power cable with a new 16/3 grounded cable & plug
5. Replaced a faulty 12AT7 tube
6. Fully tested all functions.
of edge wear abrasions on the right front edge. There is also tolex wear on the left rear edge near where it joins the top. The grill cloth is totally intact & without any staining, etc. There is one small snag below the "Fender" logo but it's difficult to see.
There are some light scratches on the control panel over the "TFL 5000D" graphics, and some slight indentations on the lower edge of the control panel in a few spots. Obviously, whenever one of these drip edge models is taken apart, it is very difficult to re-attach it in the same exact manner in which it was originally, thus those slight bends on the aluminum edge. We have seen this time after time on these 1968 drip edge Silver Face amp heads.
Sonically, the tone is robust, yet clean if you need it to be, and will break up when pushed hard. This would be an excellent platform for many types of pedals & other effects, in our most humble opinion.
It is currently in our shop & is connected to a 1990s FENDER 2 X 12 speaker cabinet model FR7220,  that was designed to be used with a Fender Rhodes electronic keyboard. Obviously, that speaker cabinet(which is also in some of our attached photographs) IS NOT INCLUDED for sale with this amp head.

This equipment is immediately ready to perform & will give someone many years of enjoyment. Great for many types of ones' amplification needs. This could be a fine amp for rock, blues, jazz, rhythm & blues, soul, as well as for gigging, practicing, recording, etc. And, we're not biased, in the least! Obviously, this is being sold as is, with no implied warranties or guarantees of any kind whatsoever.
We have had repairs performed that were necessary to get this amp into excellent playing condition.
All electronic repairs & upgrades were professionally performed by JHN Electronics, located at Barracks Trading Post in Maple Shade, NJ.
If the buyer wishes to continue to upgrade this amp, that is entirely up to them. The transfer of ownership occurs when the buyer pays for this item. Upon buyer's receipt of item, seller will no longer be held liable for any defects, electronic problems or any other issues regarding this item.
